New building regulations in WA require all homes after 1 September 2007 to be installed with either a solar hot water system, a heat pump hot water system or a gas hot water system that complies with the 5 star Plus standard.

What type of construction is affected?
The 5 star Plus standards will apply to all new Class 1 and 10 buildings e.g. all new houses and associated outbuildings and associated swimming pools.
