OLD VERSUS NEW RENEWABLE ENERGY CERTIFICATES
Standard (Open Circuit) Systems
These systems are generally only used in locations which are not subject to freezing or harsh water conditions. An open circuit solar water heater system is a system where the storage tanks' water is circulated directly from the storage tanks through the solar collectors. This facilitates solar energy transfer from the solar collectors to the storage tank.
Solar Frost Technology Kit
The SUNPRO® Solar frost technology kit (optional) protects your system from freezing, thus still provides the opportunity for homeowners to enjoy solar hot water
benefits, where you may not think it possible!
Hard Water** (Closed Circuit) Systems
Closed circuit systems can be used in any climatic or water condition. A closed circuit solar water heater is a system where two circuits are
in operation to transfer solar energy from the solar collectors to the water within the storage tank.

** where the water quality is greater than 600ppm total dissolved solids (TDS) eg. bore water.
It is difficult to obtain a lather from soap with Hard Water. |
